Original illustration from 2024, drawn with ink on paper, measures 36 x 28 cm. Hand signed. Unframed.
This illustration is inspired by a Roman face helmet from the 2nd century AD, that was found in Pfrondorf, Germany. Intricate helmets like these were not used in battle, but were much rather worn during ceremonies, parades and the like. This particular one is adorned by a stunningly detailed eagle, wings and snakes. In combination with the soft facial features it resembles depictions of the Gorgon Medusa.
