Sic Transit Gloria Mundi - Screen Printed T-Shirt - fairtrade, organic cotton

The illustration on the back of the shirt is inspired by a Roman face helmet from the 2nd century AD, that was found in Pfrondorf, Germany. Intricate helmets like these were not used in battle, but were much rather worn during ceremonies, parades and the like. This particular one is adorned by a stunningly detailed eagle, wings and snakes. In combination with the soft facial features it resembles depictions of the Gorgon Medusa.
The signs of corrosion of the helmet and the Latin quote "sic transit gloria mundi" ("thus passes the worldly glory") remind us of the transitory nature of life and earthly honours.

The illustration is drawn by me and screen printed locally by TIME/LESS Prints with orange/brown ink on soft black shirts from Stanley Stella (Creator). They are made of fairtrade organic cotton. The shirts have a regular fit.
