Screen printed patch "Apotropaic Hand"
The symbol of the eye-in-hand is an apotropaic image that has been used since hundreds of years in many different cultures and that is popular up to this date. Wearing the symbol on someones body is believed to serve as magical protection from negative energies, such as the “evil eye”. This illustration was originally drawn for the “inktober” 2018.
ca. 17 x 12 cm. This patch is designed by myself and screen printed by my partner in our home. Each patch is printed and cut individually by hand. The inks I use are eco friendly water based screen printing inks, the fabric is sourced from a small local fabric store.
IMPORTANT INFO: After they're sewn on the patches are machine-washable at 40°C. To avoid fraying please make sure to use stitches that go around the edge (like buttonhole stitches) rather than stitching parallel to the edge.
