Screen printed patch "Small snake"
The snake is probably the animal with the highest spread symbolic usage and is common in almost every culture and religion. In the form of the “Ouroboros” or the “Cosmic Serpent”, that appear in various cultures, the snake serves as a symbol of the cyclic nature of the cosmos and thus as a symbol of infinity. On the other hand the serpent can be a symbol of the outer evil, since the snake represents the Antichrist in Judeo-Christian religions. With its poison the snake can in fact cause harm, but in small doses the poison can also cure diseases, which makes the serpent a very ambiguous animal in terms of its symbolic power.
ca. 10x6,5 cm. This patch is designed and screen printed by myself in my home studio. Each patch is printed and cut individually by hand. The colours I use are eco friendly water based screen printing inks, the fabric is black cotton canvas.
IMPORTANT INFO: After they're sewn on the patches are machine-washable at 40°C. To avoid fraying please make sure to fold the edge inward with an iron prior to sewing it on and use stitches that go around the edge rather than stitching parallel to the edge.
