“Judith with the Head of Holofernes”
Driven by the utmost will to save her home from the forces of the Assyrian general Holofernes (mentioned as "Holofernis" in the Vulgata), who was about to subdue all nations of the West to his king Nebuchadnezzar, Judith decided that Holofernes had to die. Knowing that the cruel general was attracted by her appearance, she decided to enter his camp and seduce him. While he passed out from drinking too much wine, the fierce Judith took a sword and cut off the general's head. Judith – the beautiful Hebrew widow- then returned to her home in Bethulia, presented the severed head of Holoferes and the Hebrews were able to defeat the forces of the enemy. Judith became the epitome of a virtuous women, who wasn't afraid to get her hands dirty and fight for her freedom.
