Fine Art Print "The Safe Haven"
The interplay of light and dark - of life and death - is the main theme of this landscape illustration. The old, dead tree with the human skull on the bottom is not only referring to death itself, but also to resurrection and new life emerging from what is left behind. Both elements - skull and tree - in combination, are drawn to remind of depictions of the crucifixion, that shows the wooden (!) cross accompanied by Adam's skull on the bottom. In the background there is a small cabin that gives this illustration its title and is a small "safe haven" in the midst of rough nature. A place of recreation that helps us "resurrect" our physical and mental strength to face the struggles that cross our way better and easier.
The composition of "The Safe Haven" is inspired by the Austrian-German movie "The Dark Valley" that is set in a small village in the Alps and beautifully captures the breathtaking mountainscape of this place.
